Redwood’s patient health equity fund
The Heartwood Fund
I want to do my part to improve healthcare access in our community. The Heartwood Fund will help lower barriers to care for community members in need. Applications aren’t open yet, but more information is coming soon!
Frequently asked questions
Why “Heartwood”?
Heartwood is the strong inner core of a redwood. It’s the tree’s backbone, built steadily year after year, and it’s where the redwood’s signature red color comes from. I chose this name because I hope this fund will grow the same way, strengthened by every contribution over time, and become a protective core for our community.
I’d like to help people in my community access care. Can I donate to the Heartwood Fund or redirect my membership discount to the Heartwood Fund?
Yes to both, thank you! One-time or ongoing donations are greatly appreciated, and 100% of donations, minus processing fees, go directly into the Heartwood Fund to cover care for community members in need.
If you receive a membership discount (such as a healthcare worker or volunteer discount), an easy way to contribute is to automatically redirect part or all of your membership discount into the fund monthly.
Of note, Redwood isn’t currently a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so donations aren’t tax-deductible at this time. However, I hope to create a nonprofit in the not-too-distant future, so stay tuned!
