Pathway to membership

From first hello to your first visit, here is how joining Redwood works.

Six steps

  1. 1

    Book a free intro call

Every prospective patient starts with a free, no-pressure 15-minute phone or video call, booked on our scheduling page. It’s a chance to tell me what you’re looking for, get your questions answered, learn how the practice works, and make sure it feels like a good fit for both of us. I can’t give medical advice during this call.

  2. 2

    Enroll

When the practice officially opens to patients, you’ll receive an email. You can then carefully read and sign the membership agreement online, add a payment method (card or bank account), and pay the one-time enrollment fee. The process usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes. HSA and FSA cards may work; see the FAQ, and please confirm with your tax advisor, since Redwood can’t offer tax advice.

Your monthly fee is charged on the first of each month. If your membership starts on another day, your first month is prorated. Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll receive a link to your intake forms.

  3. 3

    Fill out your health history

Complete your health history in the patient portal. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Please finish at least 24 hours before your first visit so I have time to review it.

  4. 4

    Send your records

Sign a release of information (ROI) form in your patient portal for each doctor or medical facility we need records from, and I’ll request your records from your past doctors; you don’t have to do it yourself. Please fill this out for each health care provider you would like me to get records from. You’re also welcome to send me any recent test results electronically. Please start this as early as you can, ideally at least two weeks before your first visit, since other offices can take time to send records.

  5. 5

    Your first visit

A long visit, usually 60 to 90 minutes, to review the membership agreement, get to know you, answer any questions about your membership, and create a personalized plan together.

    Please bring:

    • A photo ID
    • All your medications, vitamins, herbs, and supplements, in their bottles
    • Your insurance card or health share information, if you have one (for labs, imaging, specialist referrals, etc.)
    • Names of your past doctors and specialists and any available contact information
    • Any recent test results (or even better to send them ahead of time electronically if you can)
  6. 6

    Ongoing care

Message me, book 30- or 60-minute visits and/or OMT visits and get labs and medicines as you need them, per our plan.

If cost is a concern

Direct primary care gives me the freedom to care for people based on what they need, not what’s most profitable. If cost is a barrier for you, please reach out. I’ll do my best to find a way to work with you, while keeping the practice sustainable so I can continue serving our community. Also, keep an eye out for more information about the upcoming Heartwood Fund, created with the goal of helping lower barriers to care for community members in need.
